Sony's "Official" Best 25 "Downloaded" PSP Games of 2009

Sony themselves have provided a list of the 25 top selling downloaded titles for the PSP in 2009. Big thanks to PlayStation LifeSTyle for the list! So straight from the horse's mouth, the best PSP "downloaded" games of 2009. Let's take a look, shall we?

* Gran Turismo PSP - The first game I purchased for my PSP GO. It's gorgeous, plays wonderful and is worth your money. Yeah, I know there is no "career mode". Screw it I say, it's still a phenomenal experience in the palm of your hand.

* Patapon 2 - Wonderful stuff. It's one of those games you can bug the hell out of Nintendo fanboys and girls out there by letting them play it. Then you can see the frustration in their eyes. Why the hell didn't Nintendo come up with this delicious franchise? Because they were too busy with Wii Music baby!

* God of War: Chains of Olympus - Originally released years ago on UMD. The game has sold threw the roof once again as a digital download. You must own this game. Especially, before God of War III is released.

* Guilty Gear Judgment - Don't own it and I've never played it. Obviously it's popular and I'm missing something special. *sniff*

* Killzone: Liberation - Yes. Awesome. Bad men go boom. A great expansion from a popular and hardcore shooter franchise from Sony themselves.

* WTF: work time fun - I love Warioware. WTF is Warioware for the PSP. That makes it awesome.

* Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars - An amazing Nintendo DS game brought to the PSP as "Director's Cut" edition with new content and gorgeous graphics. It's GTA baby, you probably already have it.

* Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters - Ratchet & Clank on the go with all it's wonderful 3D platforming and production values intact. Adorable stuff.

* Madden NFL 10 - Hell yeah! I know the iPhone edition is pretty sweet since I own it. The best is still on the PSP. Madden NFL 10 is awesome on the go football. Just thinking of it makes me wanna post this -

* Brain Challenge - It's Brain Age for the PSP and it's $4.99. Enjoy!

* SOCOM: Fireteam Bravo 2 - I'm playing a little Modern Warefare 2 on my big, awesome PS3. On the go? It's this game baby! It includes a huge single campaign and online features. Great stuff!

* Assassin’s Creed: Bloodlines - I love this game. It's sweet. The missions are short and it's a fun portable game.

* Ultimate Board Game Collection - Don't own it... Blargh!

* Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords - A very popular franchise that has hit the PSP. This which makes my wife very happy. Have fun!

* Holy Invasion of Privacy, Badman! - A very sweet title that you should check out. Try the enjoyable demo available on the PSN Store. I believe the title has dropped in price down to $9.99.

* DISSIDIA: Final Fantasy - Don't own it but I want to own it so bad. Argh! This game rocks! The demo was amazing. Everything about it is amazing! Thank you SquareEnix!

* Ultimate Ghosts N Goblins - Awww! Wonderful stuff here. Hard as hell but wonderful!

* Monster Hunter Freedom Unite - Sadly I've never played this franchise. I'd love to check it out but Phantasy Star Portable has my attention. I'm waiting for that digital download instead.

* Brave Story: New Traveler - Nope. Don't own it. Remains a mystery to me.

* PixelJunk Monsters Deluxe - Another "Director's Cut" of a kick ass game. New content and plenty more single player missions await your pleasure.

* Fate/Unlimited Codes - Nope.

* Prinny: Can I Really be the Hero? - A kick your ass, gorgeous looking, 2D platform modern classic that will bring wonderful memories of hard as nails Capcom games.

* Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories - Awesome!

* Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories - Double awesome!

* Untold Legends: The Warrior’s Code - Triple awesome! It's awesome to see this title sell so well and hopefully introduce new viewers to the original classic film.

There ya go! The best selling games for the PSP on the PSN Store. There are plenty of more for under 20 bucks a pop. Just listin' to my sweet podcast below.

Happy holidays and Happy New Year's!

District 9 PSP No Go In Canada... Yet!

On BLU-RAY/DVD Tuesday, I purchased the awesome District 9. It features an excellent collection of extras including a portable version of the film for the PSP. All pumped up for my on the go edition, I fearlessly wanted to load it up.

No Success. After several re-attempts, I contacted Sony via e-mail about the situation.

Several unsucessful later, the solution was discovered...

The Canadian codes for the PSP portable copy haven't been unlocked yet. That is until Tuesday, December 29th the original release date for the flick on Blu-Ray/DVD.

Mystery solved! I'll have to wait a little bit extra for my portable copy but I can't complain about the spectacular looking Blu-Ray release.

The Ever Dimensional Light... Fantastic

I've seen James Cameron's Avatar in 3D, twice already. I was blown away by the first viewing and absolutely enjoyed the experience even more the second time around. What a beautiful story, set in a world created from Cameron's imagination.

From the script to the effects to the actor's performances, everything is polished. Cameron is a master of his craft. The care in detail can be seen in every frame.

Some of the best compliments I can give...

First, it didn't need to be in 3D. The film is amazing and gorgeous on it's own. The story is epic and characters are wonderful. Seeing Pandora in 3D however, is breathtaking, awesome stuff. It's like the ultimate bonus to an already magnificent film. So the film is solid and it isn't a gimmick like the upcoming Piranha 3D.

Second, the 3D effect was seamless. I have a stigmatisim and when I saw Coraline in 3D, the effect worked 75% of the time. Coraline is a wonderful movie, I could care less that it's in 3D but again, it's like an added bonus. Avatar's 3D was 100% working all the time. My eyes never shifted out, nor did I feel exhausted.

Avatar is amazing. It's good, old fashioned storytelling in a phenominal, living and breathing world. You better check it out 3D before it's gone. Every mainstream, big budgeted Hollywood flick should be in 3D now. Crossing my fingers, hoping that the upcoming The Hobbit films will be done that way.

James Cameron's Avatar

This is an amazing featurette entitled "Planet Pandora". Like the awesome "Planet Earth" series, this video shows off the beauty of Avatar's featured planet. I can't wait to see this movie!

Konami Finally Hits The PSN Store!

The PSN Store has a massive update today, including the arrival of a ton of Konami titles for the PSP! Hooray! Still, MIA are their Metal Gear Solid titles. They should be out shortly since Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker hits North American shores the day after my birthday(May 24th)!

Major Sega News!

WOOT!

Hello folks. It's been a while since I updated ye'ole blog. I've been playing a little Assassin's Creed 2, The God of War Collection and Dragon Age. Plus, I've been playing a little online gaming with my buddies with GTA IV and Uncharted 2.

I've also cracked open my archive and been playing some SEGA classics. Sonic's Sega Genesis Collection and Sonic Unleashed have been working my PS3 favourably. On the PSP side I've been playing the killer puzzler CRUSH and the action packed Sonic Rivals. Plus, my Dreamcast has seen some action with Power Stone, Sonic Adventure and Shenmue. Dreamcast... Excellent! *guitar riff*

With all this Sega action going on, some great news has been announced. YAKUZA 3 is headed to North America exclusively for the PS3 in 2010. Holy crap!

So PlayStation owners aren't just getting that exclusive but the PSP is getting Valkyrie Chronicles 2, exclusive of course, in 2010 as well.

Hmmm... Time to bust out my DC again.

Now That's More Like It

Ron Howard's The Da Vinci Code was a mega blockbuster worldwide. It's hype was incredible. The final result, I felt was so-so. It wasn't an epic classic but then again it wasn't a huge turd. It was okay. I like the story and ideas. Tom Hanks rocks and Han Zimmer's score was bitchin'. Plus, Audrey Tautou was hot in the flick. Coming off the success of Howard's A beautiful Mind, The Da Vinci Code felt bloated and disappointing.

3 Years later, we have Howard's adaptation of Dan Brown's Angels & Demons. Everyone appears to be in top form in this flick. Watching the behind the scenes on the Blu-Ray's bonus disc reveals the key to success. We have the characters always in constant motion, dealing with a ticking time bomb plot. It's awesome stuff. Tom Hank's is great. Ayelet Zurer is lookin' good. Howard does a great job dealing with a heavy, handed plot dealing with religion and politics. It's good stuff.

When I purchased it, I picked it up at Best Buy as a sweet gift set which included, a very nice journal for keeping journal stuff. An MP3 CD with the original novel read. This is handy for people like me who can't read. Plus, included was a PSP version of the extended edition of the film ripped at a very competent 800kbps. Yeah, it looks pretty sweet on my PSP GO.

I watched the film's extended edition. Next time, I'll check out the original theatrical cut. Then I can compare the two, take notes and destroy a few archives like Hank's does in the flick.

BTW, the Blu-Ray looks stunning. It sounds incredible. Oh yeah, Hans Zimmer has another kick ass score.

Latest PSN Update

Everybody, including myself can relax now. LittleBigPlanet PSP is finally on the friggin' PSN Store. Not only did Sony release the gem but a crap load of new content.

Included is a very sweet PS3 game sale. Awesome stuff such as Sony's The Last Guy, Pixeljunk's Flower and Ubisoft's Prince of Persia Classic are selling for $4.99. Sick!

A crap load of PS1 classics hit the store. Two favourites of mine are Dino Crisis and Command & Conquer. Dino Crisis if you will, is like JURASSIC PARK meets ALIENS meets RESIDENT EVIL. In one word... Bitchin'!

Plenty of new Minis hit the PSP alongside Bandai Namco's Tekken 6 PSP.

Okay, Sony. You are now forgiven for the LittleBigPlanet PSP BS with this killer update. BTW, LBP for the PSP is phenomenal. Games like God of War: Chains of Olympus, Gran Turismo, Resistance: Retribution and LittleBigPlanet can't be done on the iPhone/iTouch. These are killer games every PSP gamer should own and brag about.

James "The Man" Cameron's Avatar

When I was a wee lad in the 1980's, I'll always remeber watching Aliens for the first time with my folks on VHS. Wow! What a kick ass flick! Soon after wards, I'd be watching The Terminator as well with the family. One again, another kick ass flick!

Looking at the credits I recognized the director's name... James Cameron. He directed the two films which of course, rocked the world. Soon in theatres would be his next adventure, The Abyss. My father and I would goto that film together and we were blown away. The "special edition" cut of the film was superior but I enjoyed the "theatrical cut", especially going to see it with my dad. It's still one of our favourite films of all time.

Today, Avatar is wrapping up for Cameron. I read his scriptment for it ages ago. What I love about Cameron is that his written word and completed films have that classic science fiction feel to them. Avatar's read is exciting, emotional and greatly dramatic. He writes technically impressive possibilities and allows the audience to connect with the narrative's human drama with great characters. I'm so excited to see this flick in a month and you should be too.

A couple of recent videos have hit the net that will help pump you up. What's amazing is all the stuff with the Navi home world including the alien race, is ALL CGI and it's impressive stuff.

AWESOME! ENJOY!

Recent PSN Store Purchases - November 19, 2009 Edition

SNK Arcade Classics Volume 1 - An awesome collection of arcade classics from Metal Slug to King of Fighters. For $19.99, you can't go wrong. I've never played a Metal Slug title in my life and now I can.

Echoes - Now this is more like it. A fast, paced arcade puzzler priced at $2.99. Great stuff. Pick it up to send a message to Sony that we support great value priced reasonably.

Resident Evil 2 - I love this game, it's one of my favourites of all time. Now I can play it on the go. Classic stuff.

Sackboy MIA III - PR Nightmare

The Sackboy Missing In Action trilogy is now complete! Thanks Sony. It got my creative juices flowing with all this shitty Photoshop madness.

Expect LittleBigPlanet PSP to be on the PSN Store this coming Thursday, a good week and a half after it's UMD retail launch. Everyone is pissed. Just check out Sony's own LittleBigWorkshop forums. Ouch! For some crazy reason, the title is on the European PSN Store(crap!). Thanks Sony! Yet, it appears that there might actually be some technical reasons why the title isn't out on the North American store yet(double crap!).

I could rant some more and I will! I was looking so forward to playing this on my PSP GO. I bought into the whole "PSP GO is gonna kick ass" mentality. The hardware is awesome. I love it's sexy, sleek design. The system is more portable than ever.

Yet, we can blame Sony themselves for all that appears to be going wrong. The back catalog is crawling onto the network store. I still haven't seen any NAMCO or SQUARE ENIX UMD legacy titles. A good chunk of what is available is overly priced. I don't understand what is going on.

Good thing I kept my PSP-3000. Honestly, if I'm to recommend a PSP portable to somebody I'd tell them to pick up one of the Gran Turismo or Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines PSP-3000 bundles. They're cheaper and you get a hell of a lot more value thrown in them. Plus, you don't have to deal with the PSN Store which is ridiculous.

The Best Damn Version of Pac-Man You Can Purchase

Look at him, all happy sitting beside his brand new, awesome TV Game!

Next year the little yellow guy turns 30. Holy crap! Where has the time gone by?

I still remember being a little kid running to the arcade to play Pac-Man and Ms. Pac-man until I dropped. Waking up Saturday morning with a bowl of Pac-Man cereal with my Coleco tabletop beside me as I watched the cartoon series. Oh the glorious memories of being a kid in the 1980's.

To bad we still can't play a game of Pac-Man on the PSP GO. Namco has no interest in the PSP. They released a bunch of fantastic UMD titles from a full fledged Namco Musem, Ridge Racer and Pac-Man World 3. I have no idea why these aren't on the PSN Store to download. What's wrong Namco? Don't you like money? I mean the games are complete, just throw them on the damn store already.

Argh! Rage... Decreasing... Back to the topic.

If you don't have a console or portable video game system and even if you do, the best way to play the arcade classic is with Jakks TV Games Retro Arcade Featuring Pac-Man.

I picked this sweet baby up for 25 bucks at one of my local Canadian Tire's. You get 12 Namco arcade classics. Here's the list -

* Pac-Man
* Galaga
* Pole Position
* Dig-Dug
* Galaxian
* Super Pac-Man
* Xevious
* New Rally X
* Mappy
* Pac-Man Plus
* Bosconian
* Pac & Pal

Sweet, eh? The best part is that awesome arcade stick. You can finally play Pac-Man perfectly, just like the arcade game. Isn't it an adorable little unit? It reminds me of the arcade cabinet.

Yeah, it's pretty cool to write and read about all these great arcade classics. Hell, what's better is actually playing them! Run out and get this kick ass toy! It's the perfect gift for yourself or that special someone who can't get enough of the Pac.

Highly recommended, YO!

Update Them Units

The PS3 and PSP have just been handed some firmware updates with some new functionality. Hooray! A PSP update that isn't a security update. WOOT!

For the PSP , firwmare 6.20 provides users with -

Digital Comics Reader – PlayStation Network Digital Comics is a new service launching in December. It will allow you to download hundreds of classic and new comics from the PlayStation Store and read them page by page or frame by frame on your PSP system. Firmware update (v6.20) includes the Digital Comics reader application, which you’ll find under a new section called “Extras” on the XMB. Please note, the comic reader is an additional download; once you’ve loaded (v6.20) onto your system, simply click on the comic reader icon under “Extras” to download it to your PSP. In addition, you’ll be able to try out a free digital comic sample from the service soon. Visit www.playstationcomics.com for more information.

For the PS3, firmware 3.10 contains -

* The Photo category on the XMB has been revamped to make it easier to see more of your photos stored on the PS3.

* The PSN Friends List has been modified based on feedback we received after update 3.00. Additionally, you can now choose a color for your PSN ID on the XMB.

Awesome! Fist Bump! SHAZAAM!

Sackboy Still MIA!

Even though they said they were working on it, Sony still hasn't put Sackboy on the PSN for PSP GO owners worldwide. Thanks Sony.

Below I have an actual transcribed conversation between some higher ups within the company during LBPs PSP launch on Tuesday...

SONY DUDE 1: Sup Dawg? LBP PSP is out in stores... ight?!?

SONY DUDE 2: Word!

SONY DUDE 1: All stores includin' da PSN?!?

SONY DUDE 2: Ohhhhh... Shit dawg! I's forgot dat one YO!

So there we have it. The truth is revealed. I have a feeling that...

A) They just screwed up and forgot to put it on the PSN on launch day. Hell, Ubisoft got that one right with Assassin's Creed when it was launched in stores and on the PSN.

B) They wanted to make retailers happy by letting them have the title exclusive for a short period.

I think it's all the above. In any case it's late but coming. It should be out on tonight's PSN store update.

Where Is It?

Not only was ASSASSIN'S CREED: BLOODLINES released yesterday for the PSP, but LITTLEBIGPLANET as well. UbiSoft's much anticipated Assassin's Creed PSP debut was released on both UMD and on the PSN. Sony's Sackboy was released on UMD and appears to be MIA on their own PSN.

What up SONY? What up indeed?

Happy 3rd Anniversary PS3!

Note: The picture of Elisha Cuthbert is posted in celebration of my favourite next-gen console. It's visually more appealing than a picture of a bunch of fat dudes celebrating the console's birthday.

I have to admit, the PlayStation 3 was the last of the 3 next-gen consoles released that I purchased. The Wii had that controller, Zelda: The Twilight Princess and the Virtual Console. The X-Box 360 had Halo, Gears of War and Arcade Live. The PlayStation 3 launched with a bunch of new IPS from Resistance to Motorstorm. The PS3 didn't win the battle, but in the long run it will win the war.

Today, the console has several fantastic exclusive titles from Metal Gear Solid 4, LittleBigPlanet, the Uncharted and PixelJunk franchises. The console was also redesigned, got sexier, dropped in price and gained storage space. Today, is a far cry from it's launch in the cool November weather of 2006.

The greatest compliment. Everyone and I mean "EVERYONE" I know who owns a Wii and PS3... Play and utilize their PlayStation console a hell of a lot more than their Wii's.

Hears to another 3 years Sony! Oh hell... Let's aim for that 10 year system cycle!

Silent and Deadly

Last night, Altaïr snuck outta nowhere and delivered his latest adventure on the PSN, silently and deadly. The Official PlayStation Blog didn't even mention it. Interesting. The game is awesome BTW. I've played a good hour of it and I'm amazed at the work UbiSoft and Giptonite did. It really is a kick ass portable Assassin's Creed experience, without the 2nd analog stick. Great stuff!

The Making of An Online Epic - Everquest

Everquest is one of the very first MMOs. It is created by Sony Online Entertainment who are responsible for the recent Untold Legend series which I enjoy very much. I sadly never played Everquest back in the day. I was a Phantasy Star Online dude on my Dreamcast, that's about as far as I got on the whole online RPG adventuring. Below is a fantastic and entertaining video detailing everything Everquest. Enjoy!

Now Every Single adhoc PSP Title Can Go ONLINE!

Not all PSP titles have Wi-Fi Infrastructure Gameplay aka ONLINE GAMEPLAY. The vast majority do in fact have Wi-Fi Ad Hoc Gameplay aka PSP to PSP Gameplay with dudes in the same room communicating locally. That all changes very soon!

The PlayStation Blog has just announced that adhocParty will be released for the PS3 very soon. This function will allow your PS3 to be a server for your PSP and allow such titles as PHANTASY STAR ONLINE and GRAN TURISMO to go ONLINE.

Awesome! I love the future... TODAY! ;) ^_^

Updating The Store With Recent Purchases

The big news of the latest PSN updated is that BRAID has arrived. The critically acclaimed action platformer has been an anticipated PSN release for many gamers including myself. I can't wait to fire it up!

My recent PSP purchases include the following -

GOD OF WAR: CHAINS OF OLYMPUS - I have to admit on the PSP side, it was a sad update. Next week will be more pleasurable with LittleBigPlanet and Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines hitting the store. :) Yes, I already own GOW on UMD. Yes, it won't be a problem selling that copy for a little compensation for the download. Look this game is a masterpiece. I want it on my PSP GO and I'll replay this baby again and again. With the arrival of the HD GOW Collection arriving next week, everybody owes it to themselves to play this. Every PSP owner should own this.

COMMAND & CONQUER: RED ALERT - DUNE 2000 was my introduction to the RTS genre. I have very fond memories of that game and played it for hours and hours. I'd love to see that classic hit the PSN as well. Let's keep our fingers crossed. Westwood's superior Command & Conquer franchise was always the better game. I've never played the original PlayStation 1 classic and now I have the opportunity for $5.99. Awesome! I'm looking forward to mastering it.

5 Million

The wizards at Kotaku have revealed that "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II" sold nearly 5 million copies worldwide in one day. Released on Tuesday, November 9th, 2009 the sequel to one of the biggest video game franchises ever exceeded everyone's expectations. Reviews, gamers and sales numbers have justified Infinity Ward as one of the top FPS developers of all time.

Wow! What can I say but WOW! I personally loved the first Modern Warfare. Like most people, experiencing the original title was mind blowing. It was challenging, engaging, hugely dramatic and relevant.

I can't wait to play the sequel!

What's In Colour For The Future?

Destructoid has some sick information about some potential future PSP GO colours. They have Sonic The Hedgehog Blue. That's awesome! Other colours, hmmm... I can't think of a better way to celebrate Pac-Man's 30th Anniversary than with a yellow PSP GO.

Now that I think about it... YO NAMCO! WHERE'S THE PSP's NAMCO MUSEUM ON THE PSN? GET ON THAT WOULD YA! I WANNA PLAY PAC-MAN ON MY PSP GO!

Last Weeks Update... TODAY!

If you haven't heard, even the video game industry isn't immune to bad times. EA is laying off 1,500 jobs across North America. I am laid off myself, not from EA or the game industry mind. However, it provides myself with plenty of free time to pursue different career opportunities and a heck of a lot of time to work on the blog. So here we go!

Last Thursday the PSN was updated with some sweet stuff, especially for PSP owners. Here are my latest purchases with commentary. Enjoy!

GHOSTBUSTERS: THE VIDEO GAME - Featuring the talents of the original films, Ghostbusters: The Video Game was a huge success across all platforms. The PSP edition is a port of the Wii/PS2 versions and guess what the PSP lacks? *DING!* A second analog stick. The developer gets the job done with the analog nub/action buttons method. Still, we all can agree the PSP2 will have a 2nd analog nub for these types of games. Still, the game plays great and its presentation is impressive.

STAR WARS BATTLEFRONT: ELITE SQUADRON - I love the Battlefront series and sorely miss it on consoles. Where the heck is the next generation edition of this franchise? Oh yeah! It was scrapped. *sniff* Luckily, developer Rebellion have some pretty sweet PSP editions of the franchise. Their latest is Elite Squadron. Like GB: The Video Game, it relies on the analog nub/action buttons control method with a couple of different control schemes to help you out. It plays very well and is built from the ground up especially for the portable. If you love Star Wars or just love blowing crap up... You must own this! I can't think of another game where I was doing an entire ground campaign taking down Storm Troopers and tanks. Next, you'd take off in a space ship, blow up a few bad guys on the planet's surface and then fly off into space. We aren't done yet. In space you have some dog fights while landing into a Star Destroyer. Inside, you run along corridors, taking down more Troopers and head to the ship's generator and blow it up. Finally, you run back to your space ship, take off and watch the Star Destroyer explode behind you. Who doesn't wanna play that?

Finaly Affordable - Thursday's Purchases

Over the last couple of weeks, Rockstar Games has been releasing their entire PSP game catalog on the PSN Store. For myself, it's been prime time catching up with the developer and experiencing a few franchises for the 1st time.

One of those franchises is Manhunt. When Manhunt 2 hit the store, it was priced at $29.99. A week later The Warriors, GTA: Liberty City Stories and GTA: Vice City Stories were released for $19.99 a pop. WTF? I had a gut feeling that Manhunt 2 was going to see a price drop. It's a fairly older PSP UMD title and already budgeted priced at retailers. So guess what? Shock! Surprise! The last PSN Store update saw a price drop for it, now at $19.99. Awesome!

There are also a few PSP titles sale priced at the moment. One I did purchase was Unbound Saga. I was looking forward to this, being a spiritual successor to Sega's awesome Comix Zone. I was disappointed. It's slow and repetitive. Thankfully I only spent $4.99 on it. Ugh...

Journey To District 9

It seems like ages ago when Director Neill Blomkamp and Producer Peter Jackson were working on a HALO feature film for Microsoft. The script was complete. Pre-production was rolling. Sadly, no studio wanted to gamble on a 1st time feature film director with a huge budget. After one watches District 9, one wishes the dynamic director/producer duo would have been given the opportunity to show us their vision of Master Chief's universe.

District 9 is throw back to classic science fiction. I'm talking about the original The Day The Earth Stood Still or Close Encounters of The Third Kind or Blade Runner. Yes, the film is that good. It is my favourite film of the summer and I can't wait to own it on Blu-Ray.

So what does this have to do with the PlayStation 3 besides the whole Blu-ray playing ability?

Included on the film's disc will be the E3 2009 demo of God of War III. Hmm... Cool yet strange at the same time. The Blu-Ray will house two of the most awesome pieces of entertainment ever. Making it a definite, worthy the purchase.

Click here to get the official word.

Who Dosen't Love Free Content?

Breaking news! Stop the press!

On November 5th, PlayStation 3 owners are receiving some FREE Brutal Legend downloadable content for 2 weeks only. After that, EA starts charging. X-BOX 360 dudes have to shell out 400 points right from the start. So get downloading and support FREE CONTENT!

GOW I Like! Trophy Related...

They are fantastic stuff! However, I own the old STANDARD DEFINITION versions of Sony's classic PlayStation franchise. Boo! Gotta go HI-DEF yo! Luckily for me, the HIGH DEFINITION GOD OF WAR COLLECTION has just been announced for a November 17th release. I can't wait to play these babies once again, alongside that sweet E3 demo for Krato's supposedly final chapter. Click here to check out the PlayStation's Blog official news release which details all the wonderful trophies that can be collected.

RAARRRRARRAR!!!! I AM THE GOD OF WAR!!!! KRATOS!!!! RARARRRRARA!!!! ^_^

What Did He Get Thursday, October 22nd?

This week, the PSP was updated with a huge catalog of content. 30 Minute Hero, Smackdown VS Raw 2010 and Fifa Soccer 2010 front line an impressive release of new goodies. The awesome, big news for myself and I'm sure for plenty of other gamers is the newly added Rockstar Games store on the PSN. Every PSP title the company has released is now available online for purchase. So what did I do? A little Rockstar love of course!

Here are my purchases this week -

Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories - When it comes to 3rd party support, the PSP honestly receives huge amounts of love. One of the best is Rockstar and their titles are so satisfying and polished. This was the 1st GTA game to hit the portable and instead of remaking one of the PS2 GTA's, the company creates an original, full 3-D adventure. You get all the action and addictive radio station fun in this baby with an all new story.

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories - I love this game! It's a pretty sweet nostalgic trip for me. Vice City Stories takes place in the 1980's in all it's hair metal and Phil Collins glory. Listen to the radio station V-Rock for a damn great time! Radio DJs Uncle Ed and Lazlow are hilarious and the music is sweet!

Grans Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars - I absolutely adored the original Nintendo DS edition of this game. It is great stuff. So how do you make great stuff, better? Put it on the PSP of course with new content, music and kick ass graphics! All of the GTA games for Sony's handheld are ESSENTIAL PURCHASES!

Midnight Club: L.A. Remix - My 1st Midnight Club game it's fun stuff. Great graphics and music of course. Hmm... When has Rockstar never delivered in that department? High speed street racing at it's most intense with the ability to pimp your ride to the max. Sick! It'll sit nicely beside Gran Turismo on your handheld's internal storage.

The Warriors - Oh my! Oh my! Have you ever wished that a video game company would make a modern day Double Dragon brawler that doesn't suck? This is it! You must own this game! This PS2 port is perfect. It controls awesome. The graphics and audio are top notch. This is a steal for $19.99. Warriors... Come out and play!

That's it for this week. Apparently, there are rumnours floating around the net that Sony is promising a huge PSN update next week on October 29th. Exciting times indeed!

Have fun! ^_^

It's Thursday Kids and You Know What That Means!!!!

The PlayStation Network Store has been updated with a hearty helping of PSP software.

First off we have the two classic PlayStation Oddworld titles. Out of the whole Oddworld saga, the only game I played was the 1st-person shooter Stranger's Wrath which kicked ass BTW. I'm looking forward to trying out the original platformers.

Among the mega-upload of PSP games Fifa Soccer 10, Half-Minute Hero and WWE Smackdown VS Raw 2010 join the vast catalog. Sweet!

Now for my favourite part... Time to catch up with RockStar Games! The entire PSP catalogue has been uploaded from the developer. Joining GTA: Chinatown Wars this week are -

Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories
The Warriors

Sick! ;)

Not only are PSP fans pleased, PS3 owners are treated to Trine, alongside demos of Critter Crunch and Ratchet and Clank: A Crack In Time.

Enjoy! ^_^

Kratos In HD

Oh yeah! I like!

SONY... Harden The F**k Up!

Sony is pretty lenient with 3rd parties on the whole UMD and digital distribution of content. They do not encourage or demand PSN releases. The majority of new releases hit the UMD format, bypassing the network which leaves PSP GO owners in the dark. Thankfully, big studios like Rockstar see the benefit and potential profit with the release of their titles on both formats from day one. Great examples of theirs are Beaterator and GTA: Chinatown Wars.

You know what SONY? It's time to harden the f**k up!

Tell publishers to get their crap not just on UMD but on the PSN as well. Why not? Don't they like money?

I think Chopper says it best...

I'm A Rockstar!

With Beaterator, I sure as hell am! He! He! ;)

Today, not only did we see plenty of Natsume UMD Legacy titles hit the PSN but Rockstar games as well. Manhunt 2, Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition and L.A. Remix are a good start but next week... Oh my, next week is the stuff dreams are made of.

Drum roll please. *drum* drum* *mega drum*

GRAND THEFT AUTO: CHINATOWN WARS!
GRAND THEFT AUTO: VICE CITY STORIES!
GRAND THEFT AUTO: LIBERTY CITY STORIES!
THE WARRIORS!

Hell yeah! Especially, The Warriors! You have to own that one!

It Just Got Bigger!

Sony just officially announced the release of a 250gb PS3 for November 3rd. 50 bucks for an additional 130gb of storage is pretty sweet! Hopefully today's PSN update will have a few awesome things to fill that extra space with. ;)

On the PSP side of life, Kotaku has an updated preview for Star Wars Battlefront: Elite Squadron. I love the Battlefront titles. I enjoyed the crap outta Renegade Squadron and I'm so looking forward to this latest chapter which apparently is official Star Wars canon. Very cool! I do miss the console titles. To bad work was halted on the next-gen title. *sniff* :(

On my personal PSP side, I've been enjoying Beaterator plenty. It really is amazing stuff. Plus, Thexdor Neo is pretty cool too. ;)

Recent PSN Purchases

My PSP Go review is SLOWWLLLYYY being written. I want it to be the "definitive" review for the product, so it is taking TIME.

In the meantime, I've been playing the system plenty. Last week I purchased a number of sweet titles for it. Here we GO!

BEATERATOR - Wow! This baby is a full featured mix studio. Very impressive stuff! Thankfully it's filled with plenty of help, including tutorial videos. Give yourself a couple of hours and you'll start mixing gold. Thank you RockStar!

THE LORD OF THE RINGS: TACTICS - Loved the movies and all of EA's video game attempts with the franchise met with success. I've never played Tactics and it appears it got some good reviews. I'm looking forward to playing it.

TOMB RAIDER LEGEND - I just completed Tomb Raider: Underworld for my PS3. A great title, that would have been fantastic if Eidos gave Crystal Dynamics more time to polish. Still, I enjoyed the experience. In celebration of my triumph, I purchased LEGEND which I still find far superior. It's only $12.99 and worth every penny!

THEXDER NEO - $9.99 of pure old-school, platforming action. This is the stuff dreams are made of. Beautiful. Brilliant. The transforming mech PC game of the mid-1980's returns in all it's triumphant glory! A must purchase!

TETRIS - EA's MINI version of the classic is awesome. It's Tetris, you want it. Get it. The $9.99 price I felt was a bit high. However again, it's friggin' Tetris and it's finally available the PSP!

Enjoy your PSP's everyone!

Commercial Potential

Sony's PlayStation 3 was off to a rocky start. Not only was their launch rough but the original ad campaign as well. Remember this one? I know you do. It's creepy stuff that neither shows the consumer what the product is nor the value of it. WTF SONY? WTF!?!

Today's ventures are much more successful. Yet, back in the day there were still are some gems. Here's a brilliant European Commercial. Enjoy!

LittleBigPlanet PSP Lookin' Sweet

Yesterday's PSN update was a non-event for PSP owners. We got a couple of NBA games and that was about it. Critter Crunch is now available for the PS3 which interests me. Compared to last week's mega-update, I'm a bit disappointed. Oh well, I guess all store updates can't be so exciting. *sniff*

LittleBigPlanet PSP is coming along nicely. Pre-order goodies for the title have just been announced from the PlayStation Blog. Looks like I'm SOL since I plan to download the title for my GO. *double sniff*

I am excited about the game. It retains all that warm love and feelin' of the PS# edition. Minus the multiplayer of course. *triple sniff*

What a bummer blog. Let's pump this up a bit! Here's how we build a car. Sweet! Enjoy! The game is on track for a November 17th launch.

Chinatown Wars Trailer

I'm still waiting for the PSN to update. What will be added? What UMD-Legacy titles? What Minis? Hmmmm...

To hold over everyone's anticipation, here is Rockstar's latest trailer for GTA: Chinatown Wars for the PSP. I can't wait for this game! It's lookin' like great stuff! PLUS! Click here for a great interview with Rockstar from IGN about the upcoming title.

Games and Games... Oh, My!

This past Thursday not only did we see the launch of the PSP GO but a HUGE UPDATE to the PSN. The complete list is HERE.

Presented in the order of purchase, are the the titles I downloaded during the launch with mini-opinions.

GRAN TURISMO - Wow! This game looks and plays beautifully. Where's the career mode? A worthy purchase, yet I still wonder if down the line an update will appear with the feature placed back in.

SEGA GENESIS COLLECTION - I had to get it. 28 Genesis titles. 5 unlockable. Sonic 1 & 2. Phantasy Star II to IV. Golden Axe 1 to 3. All on the Go for $15.99.

PRINNY: CAN I REALLY BE THE HERO? - A gorgeous looking, old school platformer that packs quite a challenge. It was on sale for $9.99.

DISGAEA: AFTERNOON OF DARKNESS - Haven't even played it sadly. It received fantastic reviews though! Another NIS game on sale from $29.99 to $14.99.

SUDOKU - Finally! I own a friggin' version of Sudoku for one of my systems. It's the addictive, classic game for $4.99. I couldn't pass it up.

SONIC RIVALS - Challenging, fast paced Sonic combat racing. Beautifully realized in 3-D, thankfully it plays like Sonic's classic 2-D action. Great stuff!

That rounds out my launch purchases for my beloved PSP GO. Now to get back to some gaming! ;)

QUICK! PSP GO Impressions. ^_^

I love the portability of the unit. It's a sleek and sexy "mobile device" rather than a "portable video game system".

Love the design, the controls feel much more comfortable even though I never had a problem with the 2000 to 3000 series. Still, the new layout is very pleasing.

Even with a screen size reduction from 4.3 inches to 3.8 inches, the GO still provides a very nice "large screen". The iTouch has a 3.5 inch display.

Bluetooth ability is awesome. I've connected a headset as well as a PlayStation 3 controller to the unit.

Overall, I'm very pleased with the latest incarnation of Sony's PSP line. I don't miss UMD. I am in the process of writing a full review which will be posted later in the week. ;)

Thunderbirds... Whoops! PSP Are Go!

It launched and the world may rest now. I spent most of time updating, charging and filling my PSP Go with awesome content. I love the unit for sure. Hopefully I'll have a review soon.

6.10 Oh, I Love That 6.10... Dun! Dun!

Firmware 6.10 for the PSP will be released shortly to tie in with the release of the PSP Go. Among it's new features, Sony's SensMe will make it's debut. The big thing for me personally is the PSP Go's tethering ability. If you have no internet Wi-Fi access point for your favorite new portable, you can via your blue tooth cellphone. Sweet!

Finally... Bustin' Makes Me Feel Good!

When Ghostbusters: The Video Game was announced as a true sequel to the film franchise, I was ecstatic. Ghostbusters was a huge part of my child hood. The movies, cartoons, toys and video games all rocked. Awww... The fond memories.

For the franchise's long over due new venture, the original creators and acting talent worked alongside the game makers during it's creation. The final result was a million seller and a damn great game. The game was released for all platforms. Except for one, which made me sad. The PlayStation Portable was lacking the Busters. However today, those sniffles have been put to rest.

Atari has officially announced the video game's PSP arrival, slated for an early November release. The game is a port of the Wii/PS2 edition which I never played. Now I'll finally get the chance. Cheers!

BTW, I did complete the PS3 Busters and it's friggin' AWESOME!

It's Go Time!

2 Days to Go. At work yesterday, my buddy Tyler looks at my PSP-3000 and says, "look at that old, crappy PSP. Isn't time for a new one?". He teases me like crazy. I'm like Eric Cartman in the episode of South Park who asks his friends to freeze him because he can't wait the final 3 weeks for the Nintendo Wii. I want my PSP Go. I want to be frozen and awoken for it's launch. I Can't wait any longer.

The buzz has been incredibly positive for the latest PSP incarnation. Everybody loves the new design, control layout and portability. The PSN delivery of titles is gonna rock. The universal negative, no surprise here, is the price which should be anywhere from $199 to $219 and not the launch for $249. Still, like many others, I will be purchasing one on day one.

Thursday is gonna be a huge day, not just for the PSP Go in general, but for all PSP-1000 to 3000 owners. No matter what system you own, you'll have access to all the new content. The PSN is gonna be updated with a huge selection of UMD Legacy titles such as Gran Turismo, Motor Storm, God of War and Soul Calibur. Original PSP downloadable titles such as Pixel Junk Monsters Deluxe will be released alongside the Minis which include Tetris and Sudoko. There is going to be something for everyone, hardcore and casual gamers alike. I'm excited and yet frightened by the amount of money I'll be spending that day. Crap...

Apparently, my PSP Go purchase is gonna make me sexy like these beautiful folks in the video below. Imagine the parties I'm gonna be invited. WOW!

700 Titles Available

This is awesome! I was worried about what was going to be available on the PSN for the PSPGo on launch. Good old Uncle Kaz at TGS just announced that 700 titles will be available on October 1st. Hooray!

BTW, I'm playing the MGS: Peace Walker demo! ^_^

Sweet New Content - September 17th Edition

The PlayStation Network Store has just been updated. Sadly, Trine didn't make it. *sniff*

The brawler Unbound Saga for the PSP has dropped in price and is retailing at $9.99. Nice!

Two sweet PlayStation 1 classics have been added to it's very impressive catalog. Final Fantasy Tactics and Tomb Raider III are now available. Now if only NAMCO would release Pac-Man World and Ridge Racer 4 as well, I'd be in heaven.

Some Excellent Exclusives

A couple of exclusive PSP titles have been officially announced.

Sega's Valkyria Chronicles II will be hitting western store shelves summer 2010. This is awesome!

Sony's own SOCOM U.S. Navy Seals Fireteam Bravo 3 will be blowin' away the competition this year on November 24th. I never played the SOCOM franchise until the very popular Fireteam Bravo series. It's great stuff. I definitely will be gettin' the upcoming sequel.

Tear Down That Price!

"Mr. Hirai, open this gate! Mr. Hirai Tear down that price!"

Eurogamer is reporting that the "Biggest Dutch Retailer Boycotts PSPGo". Check it out. Hooray Sony!

I remember how excited I was with the unveiling of the PSPGo at this year's E3. What a great moment! Blue Tooth. 16-GB of storage. All digital. $249 bucks... WTF!?!

Come on Sony. Launch that baby for $199. Knock the ball out of the park. Why aim for the technophiles when you could have the world? Just look at your recent PS3 price drop sales numbers for proof of positive retail pricing.

Sony, become the leader you once were. We believe in you.

Big Sony News Edition For 09/10/09

Not only are early European PSPGo adopters receiving Gran Turismo PSP free, but they will have the option of purchasing a collector's UMD edition of the game with a bunch of cool crap inside. Hooray Europeans! Boo!!!! BTW, the game is still on target for October 1st. Yeah, I'm going to purchase the damned thing since I can't get it for free in "The Great White North". Boo!

SNAKE'S REVENGE

Attendees of TGS 2009 will definitely wanna take their PSP's, because Kojima Productions will be releasing a Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker demo for download. Will this demo hit the PSN in the near future? Who knows. SNAKE!!!!

NEW AD BABY

Finally, Sony has a brand new PS3 Slim ad hitting the air waves continuing it's marketing and sale success. Once again, it is awesome.
