Namco Bandai Returns With A Fight!

One of my favourite video game developers is finally returning to the PSP and not with another piece of crap like DragonBall: Evolution or another friggin' Naruto title. Nope. One of the biggest, bad ass fighting franchises returns to the PSP in style.

TEKKEN 6 IS HITTING THE PSP! ;)

Hell yeah!

Jakks TV Games Pac-Man 2009 *BAM!* ;)

Here we go! Another year and another Pac-Man from Jakks TV Games. Not that I mind, I'm a sucker for these sweet gadgets. Yes, I own every single release because, they keep getting better and better. I've been on a war path trying to find one of the new editions but sadly haven't had any luck. When I get one, expect a full review. The dudes over at ars technica got one and share their joy with the product.

PSP Firmware 5.50

Finally, a firmware release with some new functionality as opposed to security updates. Amongst the new is this -

"Memory Stick improvements – You’ll be able to create and access sub-folders on your Memory Stick PRO Duo for music, videos and photos. Separately, the available space required to download a file from PlayStation Store to your Memory Stick has been reduced significantly."

Awesome! Check out the rest at The Official Sony PlayStation Blog.

Final Fantasy VII Is On The Japanese PSN

Holy crap! Last week the Japanese PlayStation Network Store released Final Fantasy VII. Owners of a PlayStation 3 or PlayStation Portable can download a copy for their system and play the classic until their heart's content. Here we go, another major release. They get Metal Gear Solid. Now they have FFVII. Come on Sony of America. Get on this NOW!

Panic Ceases... Is The PSP-4000 A non-Reality?

"We have no plans for a PSP 4000 right now. But I will say that we are looking at firmware updates and software changes that are made to the system to be able to update and add new features and functionalities. And those are fairly regular, those come every six to eight weeks, and there's some exciting things on the horizon in terms of features added this year." - John Koller, SCEA's Marketing Exec

I hope Mr. Koller is correct. As much as I'd love a PSP-4000 with new hardware implemented and features, it'd be nice to take a breather. Apple updates their iPod hardware line every year and Sony is doing the same with the PSP. This excites me, yet at the same time hurts the wallet. A year off would be nice and it'd give them time to focus on future functionality through firmware updates. It's been ages since we've had a decent update. The last one was literally years ago adding SKYPE and Internet Radio functionality.

Here is Koller's interview, courtesy of gamesindustry.biz.

Rock Band Unplugged Impressions

I don't own anything Rock Band. The closest, would be it's rival series Guitar Hero. I own a Guitar Hero guitar and 1 to 3 for my PS2. All my friends have a version of Rock Band for the PS3 or Wii. So now, I get to join them on some level and what better way than to take it portable than with the PSP? I can't wait to rock Livin' On A Prayer, Kryptonite and Buddy Holly on the go.

Joystiq has a great preview of the game with impressions. Things definitely sound positive!
