Pac-Man Rulz! Gotta Post Da New News Here!

I have a Pac-Man site which has not been updated in a millennium, sad but true. I'll get back there and update it someday, but for now I'll keep the Pac posts here. Pac-Man is one of my favourite arcade games *EVER* and any re-release tickles my fancy.

Jakks Pacific has released their 5th edition of the Namco line of plug & play, TV game controllers. I still have an unopened 4th edition, which I finally acquired after a thousand years of searching. So out of nowhere comes an ever newer edition. At first, this pissed me off and then SHAZAAM! My opinion has changed. Damn you Jakks!

Yeah. She looks beautiful in all her full authentic arcade stick glory.

Here are the 12 games included in the new stick -

Pac-Man - The original, big daddy, legend of the arcade. You must own a copy.

Pac-Man Plus - Midway's first unofficial sequel to the original classic. It pissed Namco off big time. This is the first time it's ever been available for purchase.

Super Pac-Man - Hell yeah! One of my favourite arcade games of all time. Namco's first true sequel is challenging, fun and very unique.

Pac & Pal - Another Namco sequel. This oddball was rarely seen in North America. Play it and you'll find out why.

New-Rally X - Back in 1980, this "little car in maze" experience launched nearly side by side with Pac-Man. Electronic trade shows loved it. The media predicted that it was going to be the arcade industry's crown jewel. It was going to knock Pac's socks off. Little did they know... He! He! He! Oh heck, it's a fun arcade game and one of my favourites.

Galaxian - Awesome! It's like Space Invaders on steroids. Kamikaze time my brothers!

Dig Dug - Namco just kept delivering the hits and Dig Dug continued the tradition. A true classic and million times better than Dig Dug II.

Bosconian - In space, things explode really good. In Bosconian, you not only blow up little spaceships but big friggin' space battle stations. Lots O' fun!

Pole Position - What a fantastic, legend of a game. It's amazing how much joy Namco brought to my childhood. Pole Position rocks!

Galaga - Arcade classic. Arcade legend. The first sequel to Galaxian is an arcade legacy.

Xevious - A great fast paced shooter which had high hopes in North America. Sadly, it never reached the status of Galaga but has enjoyed a classic reputation ever since.

Mappy - I've never played this arcade game until it appeared on one of the previous Jakks sticks. I missed a damn good one. Cute, charming and a ton of fun to play.

12 Games! Like holy crap man! Sure beats Jakks first entries when you were lucky to get 4 games. However, one game remains missing. You see all of the previous entrees are accounted for except that North American arcade staple...

MS. PAC-MAN!

Wow! How did they miss that one! Looks like there's gonna be another new released in the future.

ARGH!

Big Decisions! LoccoRocco 2 Style.

Decisions my friends... Decisions.

Coke or Pepsi. McDonald's or Burger King. Scarlett Johansson or Elisha Cuthbert.

Decisions can be frustrating. Argh!

Sony figures you'll wanna pass taking a date to the theatres, dodging the sure explosive entertainment value of "Marley & Me" or "My Bloody Valentine 3-D" and save you're hard earned money for LOCCOROCCO 2! Hell yeah! They have me sold.

Get LocoRoco 2 for the Cost of Just Two Movie Tickets!

Still I'd like to see "Valkyrie" and pick up that exciting new PSP game, but we'll have to wait and see. I am getting LoccoRocco 2 regardless.

Syphon Filter: Behind The Scenes

Some of my favorite franchises are the "Splinter Cell" and "Metal Gear" series of games. Their high octane action and stealth game play have captured my imagination for a very long time. Sadly, these staples of the video game industry have had less than stellar results in portable form. I say boo to that.

I love portable games simply because they are portable. Whether you're on lunch break, waiting in line or on the crapper, you can make the best of those moments with a good game. So I hunger for a great portable action/stealth extravaganza. I thought all was lost until I discovered that other franchise.

Sony's "Syphon Filter" series has been a staple for them since the PlayStation 1 era. It's a new franchise for myself. I've had to do a little catching up, picking up it's previous installments. On Sony's portable, we've been treated to it's recent entrees "Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror" and "Logan's Shadow". The games are awesome featuring everything I've wanted in portable game play. I'm currently enjoying "Dark Mirror" and I'll tackle it's sequel next. They're meaty packages, featuring both single and multiplayer modes.

Well here's a treat for you! A behind the scenes look at the making of "Logan's Shadow". It's so cool playing a series of game's that have all the big production values of a console franchise in your hand's.

PSP To PS3

I might as well rename the blog "Cut To The Resistance" with all this awesome focus on the forth coming PSP title. Resistance: Retribution is gonna be sick! Enjoy this new vid from The PlayStation Blog, discussing the game's PSP to PS3 connectivity.

Canada Plays PSP

This little television spot ran during the Christmas holidays in December. It's very sweet! So, yo. Check it out!

Looking Into The Future - 2009's Most Anticipated Titles

2008 rocked and then half-way through, things started to slow down a bit for the good ole' PSP. 2009 appears to be even more exciting with more exclusive games.

DJ MAX FEVER - Yo! Yo! I wants to spin dat turntable. Bust phat caps like I'm a DJ to da max star... YO's and HO's! This music title has been getting huge press with it's Guitar Hero/Rock Band playability as you spin massive techno beats. This 3rd party exclusive is gonna be sick!

FINAL FANTASY: DISSIDIA - Big. Massive. The battle we've all been awaiting for has arrived. You get to play your favourite hero or villain and beat the crap outta your opponent in this huge, big ass production experience. It received a monster 35 outta 40 from Famitsu and I can't wait to play it! It's Final Fantasy, so it's gotta be awesome!

KINGDOM HEARTS BIRTH BY SLEEP - Square Enix's other big franchise makes it's PSP debut with tons of Square and Disney characters intact. The game returns to it's awesome fast paced melee combat without the crappy card decks. Expect fantastic visuals as the game is using the same engine as the mega-impressive Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII.

LOCOROCO 2 - The action-puzzler returns with all it's sweet charm intact. New puzzles, abilities, 6 new mini-games and a challenging 4 player new battle mode rounds out all that is good.

MONSTER HUNTER FREEDOM UNITE - This series is huge in Japan. It's Dragon Quest huge. The game was released in Japan at the end of March, 2008 and has sold over 2.3 million copies. It's taking it's sweet time getting released on these shores and when it does, we can finally see what all the fuss is about.

PATAPON 2 - Sony's exclusive portable series continues with this sequel. Promising double the content and a multilayer mode makes this title a welcome addition. PATA! PATA! PATA-PON IS AWESOME!

PHANTASY STAR PORTABLE - PSP... Get it? This I can't wait for. I'm a huge Phantasy Star Online fan. I played the crap outta the Dreamcast edition, offline and online. I even played on the final day before the North American DC servers where gonna close. Phantasy Star is a huge series across the world and a portable edition is gonna rock it hard!

RESISTANCE: RETRIBUTION - This is the big one, for me at least. The development studio behind the Syphon Filter series, is gonna dial this one home with all their killer PSP experience.

Sony's Official Description:

Set in the weeks after Resistance: Fall of Man®, Resistance: Retribution™ follows the story of former British Marine, James Grayson. After a personal tragedy – he is forced to kill his own brother inside a Chimeran conversion center – Grayson goes on a vendetta to destroy every conversion center he can find. Eventually Grayson learns that his efforts have been futile... in Western Europe the Chimera have evolved a new method of converting humans. The European resistance – the Maquis – enlist Grayson's help, and he joins Cartwright and Parker in Operation Overstrike. The war to retake the European continent has begun.

Key Features:

* A third person action-adventure game created specifically for PSP that bridges Resistance: Fall of Man® and Resistance 2™.
* Revolutionary Targeting System: Advanced third person targeting system designed specifically for the PSP® system.
* Over 10 different types of enemies, including Chimera from Resistance 2™ and Resistance: Fall of Man – including the Titan, Slipskull, Hybrids and Leapers – and all new enemies like the Hag and Cloven.
* Intense eight player multiplayer gameplay with five game modes including Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, Containment and Assimilation available via ad-hoc and infrastructure.

Holy crap! Awesome! I love my Resistance 1 & 2 on the PS3 and to have it portable... I'm in heaven.

That's a sweet lineup. Most of these titles are being released in the beginning of 09. So what surprises are in store for the rest of the year? Only time will tell...
